FIREWORKS!!!

At our house fireworks are a bad word if you are asking Parker. He has always been afraid of them, to the extreme. Anyways when they put up all the firework stands around town just before the fourth of July, the boys persistently asked Seth and I to please buy some. We finally said to Parker, "every year we buy them and you won't even come out of the house to watch them. We aren't going to waste our money anymore." He did his very best trying to convince us that this was the year that he was no longer afraid of fireworks. So on our way home from camping we decided to stop and let him pick out a few, hoping he was finally past his fear. We put Mitchell to bed and waited for it to get dark outside and as the sun started going down, Parker said to me, "maybe we should save the fireworks for later." No Way!!! I was not going to let him off that easy. We equipped him with air flight headphones to block the noise and I held him as his whole body shook with fear as we did our sparklers. Ha! He survived but once again decided he did not like fireworks. So we saved the rest for Pioneer Day for Mitchell to enjoy since he missed out on the Fourth of July fun. We have never done fireworks with him because of Parker's fear. He was so cute! He would watch with amazement as they would go off and when it was over he would say, "wow that was COOL dad, let's do another one!"

When we were done we went in to find Parker with both hands over his ears. Isn't it funny how we all are born with certain fears? I hope he can get over his fear soon. Fireworks are so much fun!
