Okay so this is my mom and dad! Lyle Jay Burrup and Necia Rae Mangum Burrup in their engagement photo. In this photo my mom is 21 yrs. old and my dad is 23 yrs. old. Both younger than I was when I got married. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1970. Growing up we always loved to hear the story of how our parents met. They both attended BYU and were both working at Deseret Towers in the cafeteria. My mom was pushing a heavy and overloaded cart of dirty dishes. My dad stood by watching her struggle and thinking to himself how cute she was. When she noticed him watching, she put her hands on her hips and said, "well the least you could do is help me." Then she stomped off. My dad must have admired her spit fire personality because he immediately started asking around to find out her name and phone number. He called and asked her out and a month later they were engaged and the rest is history.
